This ‘real life’ bear hunt will take the form of a curriculum approved reading lesson created by education specialists Yellow Door, which will be fully accessible to children who are blind and partially sighted, so that they can go on the adventure with their friends and classmates too.

Over 1,000 school children will come together at Charter Hall, Colchester, to take part in this unique fun-packed Bear Hunt reading lesson created especially for the occasion!

Join the bear hunt
Everyone can join in the fun via a web stream of the event which will be broadcast live on this website on the 15th July and be available on demand afterwards.

Children, and their teddy bears, are asked to donate £1 each to take part, and all the money raised will go to Read for RNIB Day to support RNIB’s vital reading services.

Only seven per cent of all books are fully accessible to blind and partially sighted people but thanks to Walker Books’ commitment to accessibility, no child will be denied the chance to join in the bear hunt adventure with their friends and classmates.

You can help open up a world of reading for the 25,000 blind and partially sighted children in the UK by taking part in your own bear hunt and raising money for Read for RNIB.

“I’m Freddy and I’m eight. I read braille but I also really really enjoy listening to an RNIB Talking Book. I really love We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and I’m excited about taking part in the world’s biggest bear hunt with my friends.”
